Vision:
The purpose of our church is evangelism, Christian education, worship, missions and fellowship: for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry and for the edifying of the body of Christ.
- We will teach and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to expose God’s love to all mankind as commanded in the 28th chapter of the book of Matthew.
- We will teach the word of God to facilitate the spiritual growth and discipleship of believers into Christ-likeness.
- We will express our reverence and adoration for God by giving of our time, talent and resources.
- We will express God’s love by extending hope and help to the underserved, the hopeless and helpless.
- We will spend time in fellowship with each other and other believers to encourage, teach, serve and share life together.
Core Values:
Preaching and Teaching Scripture: We will teach and preach the scriptures as the Biblical authority of God. (Matthew 28:18-20; 2 Timothy 4:2; 2 Timothy 2:15)
Biblical Knowledge: We will teach the word of God to facilitate the spiritual growth and discipleship of believers into Christ-likeness by providing Bible based Christian education. (2 Timothy 2:15; Psalm 119:11; Psalm 119:33)
Giving: We believe that giving is a part of worship and we will express our love for God by giving of our time, talent, and resources. (Luke 6:38; Malachi 3:10)
Fellowship: We believe a church should operate as a unified community of servants, with men and women stewarding their spiritual gifts. (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12; Hebrews 10:25; Proverbs 27:17; Matthew 18:2; Ephesians 5:30)
Excellence: We believe the pursuit of total devotion to Christ and His purpose is exemplary for every believer. (2 Timothy 2:15; Matthew 5:16; 2 Corinthians 8:5; Colossians 3:23)
Prayer: We will hold to the priority of prayer. (Luke 18:1; Philippians 4:6; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18; Ephesians 6:18)
Worship: We believe that worship should focus on an expression of reverence and adoration of God through praise, preaching, teaching, prayer and music. (Jeremiah 20:13; Psalm 95:1-6; Psalm 100)
Evangelism: We believe that we are Christ’s ambassadors, therefore we should do the work of an evangelist by telling others of the good news about Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:20; Isaiah 52:7; Matthew 28:18-20)
Leadership: We believe our church should be led by spiritually-driven men and women whose God-given gifts can be used in building people into a habitation for God. (Romans 12:8; Acts 6:2-5; Matthew 20:25-28; 1 Peter 4:10-11)
Cultural Relevance: We believe the church should be relevant while remaining Biblically sound. (1 Corinthians 9:19-23)
Key Objectives:
The Greater Temple Missionary Baptist Church is committed to “Building People into a Habitation for God”. We will use our resources to carry out the mission of our church. We have defined the priorities for accomplishing our goals under seven key objectives.
1. Facility and Equipment- We care that our infrastructure, systems, physical space, and technology meet the needs to create a safe, comfortable, clean and inviting environment in which to worship. We will secure and maintain our facilities and properties so they can be used effectively to carry out our mission.
2. Organization and Staff- God is a God of order and the same should go for His church. We seek to carry out the mission of the church in a well-organized and structured fashion, including human resource needs. We seek to follow the leadership protocols established by our congregation to help us maintain an orderly demeanor.
3. Stewardship- We will use our time, talent and resources to carry out God’s mission for His church by developing strategies to make it possible for everyone to become a participant in the work. We will find ways to encourage Christian service and increase our work in the ministry of His church
4. Worship Experience- We strive to demonstrate our faith in God through our praise and worship. We strive to have an inclusive worship experience that reflects our mission, vision and values. There is a place for everyone in our worship service which is reflected in our order and in our music. We make use of technology to remain culturally relevant.
5. Outreach- We aspire to teach and encourage our members to provide service to our community. We will show concern for both spiritual and physical needs of others so they can experience the love of God through our actions.
6. Educational and Instructional- We seek to supply the necessary training for each member of our ministry teams to become fully committed to the discipleship of Jesus the Christ.
7. Communications- We will develop a transparent, comprehensive and cohesive network of communication to connect with others as we carry the word of God to the world.
